George Clooney’s current watch of choice is truly befitting of a silver fox.
The American actor was spotted leaving a boat in Venice, Italy on Tuesday with a sleek steel Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra on his wrist. It is the same watch The Midnight Sky lead wore to receive France’s national film award (the Honorary César) in 2017, and is as captivating as the aforementioned sci-fi flick.
The 41.5 mm steel chronometer features a sun-brushed and lacquered blue dial that is decorated with a vertical teak pattern inspired by the wooden decks of luxury sailboats. It also sports a date window at 3 o’clock beneath the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
The wrist candy is powered by the Omega Master Co-Axial caliber 8500. The self-winding movement, which can be spotted through the transparent caseback, delivers a power reserve of 60 hours and is resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss.
Clooney is a longtime Omega ambassador and collaborator. The two-time Academy Award winner is credited as one of the watchmaker’s “Screen Legends,” alongside the likes of Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman, and Eddie Redmayne. Clooney’s models of choice include the Speedmaster ’57, Trésor, De Ville Hour Vision, and, of course, the Aqua Terra 150M. The 62-year-old actor paired the latter timepiece with aviator sunglasses and a suede jersey polo by James Perse that you can buy now for $135.
Launched in 1948, the Seamaster was modeled after the waterproof watches Omega made for the British military during World War II. Some 75 years on, the Seamaster line includes a myriad of robust dive watches that withstand the enormous pressures of the deep sea and also shine bright on a red carpet. The Aqua Terra line alone comprises some 267 designs. Although Clooney’s specific model is no longer available, you can buy its luminous alternative for $6,300.
